New Orleans Wedding Photographer | City Park | Engagement Session
How did you meet?
We “met” during my first semester of college at LSU. We had an 8:30 AM class together. I usually slept through, so we didn’t get to know each other much during that time. I remember telling my friend about the cute guy in my English class but never really thinking much of it. Grant actually did approach me one day before class asking about an assignment. I was too shy and came off pretty stand-offish (haha). The semester ended and I went home for Christmas break, not thinking I would see Grant again. A week into the following spring semester, I was out with some friends celebrating class being canceled due to “snow”. (A rare Louisiana occurrence!) I saw Grant standing around with a couple of guys. I knew I couldn’t let him slip away again, so I approached him and introduced myself. He gave my friends and I a ride home and we exchanged numbers, promising we would hang out soon. The next day was filled with texting back and forth, leading to our first date night. After that night, we started hanging out every day and here we are four years later waiting patiently to be married
“Grant put his arm around me and commented how pretty the view was and then got down on one knee!”
How did he propose?
As a Christmas present to Grant last year, I booked us a weekend getaway in Dallas! We celebrated our 3 year anniversary. I booked the hotel and made reservations for dinner the first night there. I let Grant plan the next day’s worth of activities. He took me shopping, which included going to a jewelry store and trying on my DREAM ring. We sat with a consultant for about an hour as I tried on different styles to ensure that what I thought was my favorite really was. I was so happy when Grant got the guy’s information to contact him in the future about ordering a ring. LITTLE DID I KNOW WHAT GRANT HAD IN STORE FOR THAT NIGHT!!! We went back to the hotel to get ready for a “fancy dinner”. I had no idea where we were going or what was about to happen! Grant drove us to Reunion Tower where I was pretty confused when we got to skip the line of people waiting for the elevator and enjoy a private elevator ride to the top. Once we reached the top, we immediately went outside to overlook the city. Grant put his arm around me and commented how pretty the view was and then got down on one knee! I just kept saying “this isn’t happening, this can’t be happening!” Remember we visited jewelers earlier in the day! So that I couldn’t believe it. I was even more surprised when I saw that every little detail of the ring was perfect, just how I had envisioned it. Grant made every moment of that evening special. It truly was the happiest night of my life.

What steps are you taking to prepare for married life?
Grant and I are pretty fortunate in the sense that we already act like a married couple. When he decided to go away to medical school, I decided to move with him. We love being able to come together on household tasks and make our little house feel like home.
While planning your wedding, what are you most excited about?
I am most excited to see the look on Grant’s face when he sees me for the first time on our wedding day. I know that it will be a special moment for the both of us.
